Hip Hop Symbolism of the Occult: Rebirth of Megan as a Goddess from the Abyss

Megan Thee Stallion is a prominent hip-hop artist who’s had quite an interesting rise to the top. Within two years of signing her first record label deal and blowing up; she found herself in the public spotlight after being shot in the foot by rapper Tory Lanez (who was found guilty and is currently serving a ten year sentence in prison).

She teased the release of her newest track “Cobra” on her social media:

At first glance it looks like she’s utilizing the symbolism of the cobra to express courage in herself, but let’s see what the video shows us…

The video starts out with Megan in a dark silhouette telling the viewer how we are just like the snakes; needing to shed our past like the snake needs to shed its skin over and over…

We then see her emerging from the mouth of cobra- like an egg:

This symbolizes the occult aspect of the “World Egg.” It’s a concept of creation and the beginning. The cobra is hatching a new Megan into existence. Various mythologies have a creation story about the egg creating the universe- including the ancient Egyptians which most all occult philosophies are based upon, as is evident in the works of Freemasonry and Manly P. Hall’s “The Secret Teachings of All Ages.”

Another concept of the occult is that of sacrifice.

At two points in the video we see her demonstrating a pose known for the punishment for divulging the secrets of the occult:

The lyrics suggest she’s referring to a dark time in her life where she contemplated suicide. Fair enough; but we can’t ignore the symbolism parallels with that shown to us from Freemasonry and even alleged inner Temple rituals from the Latter Day Saints:

Continuing on the journey, we see Megan enter a room of black and white, showing us the dual polarities of white and black:

This is like the tessellating floors of Freemason Lodges that utilize the “Moses Pavement” to instruct the candidates to understand that there are two opposing forces in our world- primarily good and evil. It’s called the “Moses Pavement” because of the idea of a Muse (not Moses). The Muse is a concept relative to this analysis because I believe Megan is utilizing a method to channel yet another alter ego for herself.

With that note- our next scene is Megan peeling back her skin to reveal a new self:

If we look in the background we see everyone witnessing this event (much like we’d expect with pop culture celebrity worship). We also can see the snake eating its own tail- the symbolism of the Ouroboros and the regenerative nature of reality and creation continuing to provide life in the face of death. It’s that dual polarity concept of life and death like the Moses Pavement demonstrates.

Megan is then in the desert performing a dance in the center of a spiral:

The spiral is the symbolism of infinity, regeneration, immortality and even entering a new dimension. It’s quite possible we’re looking at a new phase of deification for Megan Thee Stallion.

Near the end of the video we see a flashing sequence of various stills that one could pause for the images (if one was crazy enough- as is your humble writer).

During the sequence one image stands out because it is Megan holding up the V symbol:

This is a symbol that is controversial because we can argue it ties into an idea of channeling a beast named “Nodens” or “Typhon” from the Abyss. There’s a bit of a side tangent we need to get through to understand how this works.

The Hierophant card in the Crowley deck of Tarot cards is the fifth card; also referred to as “V”. It is supposed to represent the authority in which a person makes confessions (as in secret society confessions where initiates reveal their most inner secrets). Theorist Freeman Fly asserts that the card depicts the Hierophant as a hermaphrodite with male and female body parts, and I’ve also read that the name comes from the combination of hermaphrodite and elephant.

This is the same “V” we saw the allied forces use to show “victory” after WWII, and Freeman says that Winston Churchill actually met with Aleister Crowley and learned that the “V” sign calls upon Typhon and was the only force that could battle the Nazi solar powers.

Strangely true is the fact that Churchill had an entire campaign that boasted the “V for Victory” logo, and it’s also rumored that Crowley was a temporary member of the British MI5 program and he was the one that told Churchill the magick powers of the hand gesture, which would make sense because it was originally used as a sign of insult.

If all this is true, it’s of major concern because it takes us into a darker realm of the Mark of the Beast. I conducted a deep dive into this topic on my blog and podcast:

“Going back to the talk about the entities that exist within this Abyss; we see names like Nodens and Typhon that appear in many forms and depictions throughout pop culture. To reference the lightning bolt of the Tree of Life; we also hear theorist Freeman Fly talk about the “Spirit of Nodens” which is referenced in Kenneth Grant’s book on Aleister Crowley and the Hidden God

Nodens is the lightning war god, and in the book it claims that he “flashed forth as lightning from the depths and formed a throne in the celestial realm; a seat of stone where the goddess was established.” The book goes on to talk about the heart of Noden’s sigil is the same as that of the Mark of the Beast; a fusion of X and O which produced the lightning flash from the depths. It is believed that this initiates the establishment of the goddess because the union of the X and O is analogous to the union of the phallus and vagina.“

Finally, the video ends showing us the cobra by its eggs and one of them cracking open, indicating the repetitive nature of reality to birth new life:

IN CONCLUSION

What’s really curious to me is the symbolism of the Cosmic Egg utilized with all of the life and death opposing polarity imagery.

The usage of the V symbolism tying into the Tarot card of the Hierophant as a hermaphrodite with male and female body parts possibly connects into the Cosmic Egg symbolism as well. The Greek Orphic tradition uses symbolism familiar to this video shoot and it is showing us the creation of the original hermaphrodite; the primordial deity of Phanes:

Getting back to Megan- it’s a bit concerning to see an artist show us so many alter egos this quickly. It’s a trope of artistry to channel various muses and present different personas.

David Bowie’s “Ziggy Stardust” alien comes to mind as one of the first to do this- after that album he made an album called “Station to Station” utilizing occult symbolism of the Kabba

lah Tree of Life and taking on a new persona he called the “Thin White Duke” and had various references like “white stains” devoted to Aleister Crowley.

Her first alter ego was Tina Snow (based on the late Pimp C’s “Tony Snow”) and then she gave us “Hot Girl Meg” and then “Thee Hood Tyra Banks.”

It appears she’s birthing a new alter ego with her latest video “Cobra.” I’d fully expect a new alter ego of Megan Thee Stallion as a goddess; based upon the symbolism of this video showing her in the center of the immortality spiral surrounded by her worshipping acolytes and the “V” symbolism which takes us into the Mark of the Beast territory of evoking the goddess from the Abyss…
